Governors serving their first term under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reaffirmed their strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, pledging deeper collaboration to address developmental challenges, strengthen security, and improve the welfare of Nigerians.

The position was reached during a meeting of the first-term governors under the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) held in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, on Tuesday.
Speaking after the meeting, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, said the gathering provided an opportunity for the governors to review their stewardship, strengthen cooperation among APC-led states, and chart practical pathways for sustainable development.
According to him, the governors underscored the importance of collective leadership and strategic partnerships in delivering democratic dividends and improving the quality of life for citizens across the country.
The forum unanimously expressed confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his administration for implementing what they described as bold and forward-looking reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s economy.
The governors noted that while the reforms may require patience and sacrifice, they believe the policies are laying the groundwork for long-term economic resilience, sustainable prosperity, and inclusive national development.
“Our deliberations reaffirmed the importance of purposeful collaboration in driving inclusive growth, strengthening institutions, and improving the quality of life of our people,” Governor Sani stated.
Security concerns also dominated discussions, with the governors resolving to intensify cooperation with security agencies and other stakeholders to tackle insecurity and safeguard lives and property across their respective states.
The forum stressed the need for a coordinated approach to security challenges, noting that sustained collaboration among state governments and federal security institutions remains critical to consolidating recent gains recorded in the fight against crime and insurgency.
On international affairs, the governors strongly condemned the recent xenophobic attacks targeting Nigerians in South Africa, describing the incidents as unacceptable and contrary to the principles of human dignity and mutual respect.
They called on South African authorities and relevant international bodies to ensure the safety and protection of Nigerians living and working in the country, urging adherence to international laws governing the rights of migrants and foreign nationals.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by the APC governors to work together in advancing good governance, promoting economic growth, and supporting policies aimed at fostering national unity and development.
The gathering is seen as part of ongoing efforts by APC governors to align state-level initiatives with the Federal Government’s broader agenda for economic recovery, security, and social development.
