In a heartwarming display of unity that transcended tribal and religious divides, prominent leaders and residents of Adamawa State gathered in Yola to usher in the new year with hope and optimism.
The event, organized by the Adamawa Unity Forum, turned into a memorable night vigil filled with shared reflections on the triumphs and challenges of 2025, as well as collective visions for a prosperous future.
Held at the Neighbourhood Plaza near the Unity Roundabout and Overhead Bridge, the gathering drew a diverse crowd united in their belief that 2026 would bring renewed brightness to Adamawa.
Participants kept vigil through the night, exchanging stories, memories, and aspirations, culminating in joyful celebrations as the clock struck midnight, marking the dawn of the new year.
The atmosphere was electric with high hopes, as attendees expressed confidence that 2026 would kick off on a positive trajectory for the state.
Despite broader security concerns that led to the cancellation of official crossover activities at nearby locations like the Unity Flyover, this grassroots initiative proceeded peacefully, emphasizing community spirit and togetherness.
Prominent figures spotted at the event included His Excellency Ambassador Sali Umar Jibrila, Hon. Dahiru Bornoma, Hon. Mohammed Abba, and Hon. Samaila Garba. Also present were the Director General of CBN Network, Sarki Matasa Adamawa (Young Minister), and Oga Mohammed Bomzy.
The host, Frontier DG Arc Hussyne, served as chief host alongside organizers including Buhari, who were all visibly cheerful as more people turned out to witness the arrival of 2026.
The leaders and participants mingled freely, reinforcing the message of unity irrespective of background.
Conversations centered on fostering peace, development, and shared prosperity, with many voicing optimism that the new year would heal divisions and propel Adamawa toward greater heights.
As fireworks lit the sky (in spirit, if not literally), the group posed for photos capturing the essence of solidarity ā smiles, handshakes, and embraces symbolizing a collective resolve for a brighter tomorrow.
This private unity vigil stood in contrast to the state’s official cancellation of large-scale New Year’s Eve events due to security alerts, highlighting how community-driven initiatives can still foster hope and connection in uncertain times.
