The recent windstorm caused significant damage across Plateau State, leaving numerous families without homes and disrupting farmlands and livelihoods. In response, the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency (PLASEMA) has mobilized to provide crucial support swiftly.

“It is the responsibility of the government to support our citizens in times of crisis. This is our commitment to you,” the Deputy Governor stated.

The event in Bassa marks the beginning of a broader relief effort aimed at addressing the needs of all affected local government areas.

The Deputy Governor reassured residents that this initiative is a genuine expression of the administration’s commitment to the safety and well-being of every citizen in Plateau State.

We aim to deliver not just supplies but also hope for recovery

“This effort reflects the Mutfwang administration’s dedication to safeguarding the rights and security of our people. We aim to deliver not just supplies but also hope for recovery,” he affirmed.

The Executive Secretary of PLASEMA commended Governor Mutfwang for his swift action in addressing the needs of the community. “Your Excellency, your commitment to the welfare of the people of Plateau State is evident once again,” he remarked. “The relief materials are not merely provisions—they symbolize renewal and hope.”

Traditional leaders, state officials, and community members gathered at the distribution site to witness the government’s timely intervention. Families received vital supplies such as food items, mattresses, and roofing sheets, reflecting both the immediate and long-term need for recovery.

Engr. Israel, the Deputy Chairman of Bassa LGA, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the affected communities. “We are truly thankful to the Governor of Plateau State and PLASEMA for this lifesaving support. However, we urge continued assistance as the extent of the damage is significant, and our communities need ongoing help to fully recover.”

Let us come together in compassion and resilience

As trucks were loaded with supplies and volunteers actively facilitated the distribution, it became evident that this initiative is more than just a government program—it stands as a testament to community solidarity and hope.

“Let us come together in compassion and resilience,” the Deputy Governor concluded. “Together, we can rebuild, recover, and emerge even stronger from this challenge.”
