Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has ruled out any form of foul play in the October 9 local government election in the state.
He admonished all those planning to rig the election, saying that the the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission PLASIEC has blocked all the loopholes for any party or individual to manipulate the process.
Speaking at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) zonal rally for the Northern zone in Jos on Thursday, Mutfwang pleaded with all those who might lose in the election to accept defeat in magnanimity, saying that it’s in this way that the peace being enjoyed presently in the state could be maintained and strengthened.
The governor, who expressed optimism that the ruling PDP will sweep all the seats from the chairmanship to the councillorship position in all the 17 local government areas of the state, said Plateau is a traditional PDP state.
He said that other political parties that came to Plateau state was by accident and assured the PDP supporters that they are going to work together for the victory of the party in the October 9 local government election.
He said, “The root of PDP is in Plateau. Most of the political parties that came to Jos came by accident, the root of PDP started from Plateau.
Mutfwang also appealed to candidates who lost out during the primaries and those lost out in the contest of Party election not to take their grievances too far as PDP is still one united party.
“Party members should not get angry forever. The problems we have was in the course of selection of councilors and party chairmen with the large crowd and the party’s officials is a confirmation that PDP belongs to the people.”
“So come October 10 as the same way we gathered to officially flag off the 2024 local government election we shall all converge here for celebration and by the grace of God we will win the 17 LGC. And we will not rig because we are not election riggers . And by the grace of God we shall clinched the 17 local government”
“Those who have money to spend in useless ventures if they don’t rig election they can’t win so you can collect their money and use it to buy spaghetti but we know that the people belongs to PDP we will make sure that we return our councilors and chairmen and we will not rig the election.
I call on all PDP supporters to come out en mass to support PDP. So we are prepared as well as PLASIEC for the conduct of this election.
Chairman of the party, Chris Hassan promised to deliver the party in the LG election.
He assured a peaceful election and urged PDP supporters to conduct themselves very orderly during and after the election.
