The Plateau State Government has closed six foreign private institutions operating illegally in the state. State Commissioner of Education, Kachollom Gang, led the taskforce that sealed the schools, citing their unknown status to the government and non-compliance with the Nigerian curriculum.

The affected institutions include God’s Love Victory Assured Academy, Greenery Training and Services Site Limited, Evangelical Divine Academy, Kellyfills Institute, Alpha Idea Centre for Languages Initiatives, and International School Foreign Language and Linguistics, all located in the Jos North Local Government Area.

Reasons for the shutdown include failure to meet necessary accreditation requirements, non-compliance with the Nigerian curriculum, lack of inclusivity posing a security threat, and sub-standard education. The shutdown aims to protect students from inferior educational institutions and uphold the quality of education in Plateau State.

Students from Chad, Cameroon, Togo, and Senegal were enrolled in these institutions

This move is part of the government’s efforts to maintain educational standards and prevent the proliferation of illegal institutions. Notably, students from Chad, Cameroon, Togo, and Senegal were enrolled in these institutions.

The government’s stance emphasizes ensuring educational institutions meet required standards, demonstrating efforts to regulate the education sector and provide quality education for students. This crackdown is consistent with national efforts to maintain educational integrity, as seen in the National Universities Commission’s identification of 58 fake universities nationwide.
