As part of efforts to boost qualitative educational pursuits among constituents, the Member of the House of Representatives for Pankshin, Kanke, Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has facilitated the establishment of a new federal University of Education in Pankshin, Central Plateau State.
All required processes for the establishment and kick-start of the University had been met through the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Universities Commission (NUC)
While unveiling the beautified entrance, which signifies the inauguration of the University, Hon Gagdi stated that the gesture aimed to facilitate quality education for societal betterment and general development. He explained that all required processes for the establishment and kick-start of the University had been met through the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The establishment of the University was facilitated through legislative bills sponsored by Hon Gagdi, enacted by the National Assembly, and later approved by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration during his second tenure.
The institution, which will commence academic activities soon, is meant to serve citizens of Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole, graduating qualitative educationalists to teach younger generations.
The university’s infrastructure is built upon the existing Federal College of Education Pankshin, upgraded and converted into a degree-awarding institution, fulfilling one of Gagdi’s campaign promises to his constituents.
Rt Hon Yusuf Gagdi, a former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and alumnus of the Federal College of Education Pankshin, expressed joy that his dream had come true, bringing higher education closer to his constituents.
Earlier, the legislator had paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Ruler of the Ngas speaking people, Nde Jika Guit, seeking royal blessings, which the traditional ruler willingly offered.
