The Plateau State Commissioner for Lands, Survey, and Town Planning, Barrister Peter Nyam Gai, has expressed his determination to elevate the ministry to a ‘special ministry’ status in the state.

Speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Plateau State Council Secretariat, Gai outlined his achievements and vision for the ministry.

Gai aims to make the ministry one of the top revenue-generating agencies in Plateau State, second only to the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service. To achieve this, he is creating an enabling environment to boost staff morale and service delivery.

The commissioner has implemented various initiatives, including renovating and remodeling the town planning block, streamlining land title processing, reducing the time required to issue certificates of occupancy, transitioning to an automated GIS platform, and implementing a document management system to digitize remaining files.

Under his leadership, the ministry has seen a substantial increase in revenue, from N173 million between January and September 2023 to almost N500 million by August 2024. Gai emphasized the importance of transparency and public accountability, ensuring that every official in the ministry can give a clear account of their stewardship.
