The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has strongly condemned the abduction of 20 medical students in Benue State, describing the act as “appalling, callous, and unacceptable.” The students were kidnapped while traveling to a convention in Enugu.
IGP Egbetokun has ordered the deployment of additional tactical units, helicopters, drones, and specialized vehicles to ensure the swift rescue of the students.
He has also appealed to the public to provide useful information to aid the ongoing investigation and rescue operation.
Describing the act as appalling, callous, and unacceptable
The police chief reiterated the force’s commitment to fighting crimes and criminality, particularly kidnapping, and assured the victims and their loved ones of the force’s support during this challenging time.
The Nigeria Police Force has urged individuals with relevant information to contact the nearest police station or the state’s command control number or the Force Headquarters via email or other help lines.
This incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of students and citizens in Nigeria, and the police force’s response is being closely watched.
