The Nigeria Police Force has issued a strong rebuttal to a viral video circulating online, which falsely claims a police helicopter was used to deliver food supplies to bandits in Kogi State. The Force clarified that the footage actually depicts a legitimate security operation aimed at curbing criminal activities in the region.
The video, which shows a police helicopter landing and taking off in an area with armed individuals, sparked widespread speculation and misinformation.
In a press release, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi dismissed the narrative as “misleading and false,” emphasizing that the helicopter was deployed for a tactical mission on May 10, 2025, at the Obajana axis of Kogi State.

The operation involved joint security forces, including local vigilante groups and hunters, working to combat banditry, kidnapping, and other crimes plaguing the area. The helicopter provided critical aerial support and surveillance to enhance the effectiveness of ground troops, according to the statement.
The Nigeria Police Force urged the public to ignore the “unfounded and mischievous” claims and to rely on official communication channels for accurate information. “The Force remains committed to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians,” Adejobi stated, reaffirming ongoing efforts to collaborate with stakeholders to bolster national security.
