The Kaduna State Police Command has announced several successes in its efforts to combat crime in the state. According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Asp Mansir Hassan, the achievements include the arrest of notorious gunrunners, the apprehension of a kidnapper’s informant, and the foiling of a kidnapping attempt, resulting in the rescue of two victims.
On August 14, 2024, operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit intercepted two suspects, Abulaziz Habibu and Nuhu Thomas, in possession of a fabricated AK-47 rifle at Madaci Village, Zaria.
The suspects, who are residents of Dogon Dawa, Birnin Gwari LGA, confessed to being involved in the illicit trade of arms and supplying weapons to notorious bandits operating in the Zaria area.

In a separate operation, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tafa Division apprehended Abubakar Yahuza, a 36-year-old male resident of Gidan Abeh Village, Kagarko LGA, who confessed to serving as an informant for kidnappers.
Additionally, on August 18, officers of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) stationed in Kuriga responded to gunfire and encountered two armed men attempting to abduct two farmers. The officers foiled the kidnapping attempt, rescuing the victims, who suffered head injuries and were treated at the Kuriga Primary Health Care center.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Ali Dabigi, commended the officers for their exemplary work and urged the public to continue supporting the police by providing credible information to aid in their efforts to combat crime.
