Police invade Adamawa high court, assault Lawyers, brutalize suspects, damage vehicle-Victim

A high court in Yola, Adamawa state was said to have been invaded by Men of the Nigerian police and assaulted lawyers, brutalized suspects, and damaged vehicles belonging to some lawyers.

Barr. D.K Rigange, Esq who was manhandled by the police granted an interview to our reporters that he was in the court as counsel to the chubby people.

He revealed that the personnel of the Nigerian Police Force stormed the court Monday after the sitting of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry In respect of the Tigno-Chubbo conflict of 15th-May,2020.

According to him, one Inspector Muktar Abdullahi of D4 CID led to the brutal behavior of the police while Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, Chairman of the Commission alongside Barr. Alamode Abayomi, Barr.Yakubu Sambo, Barr.Aji Kamale Presiding over the case.

“They stormed the court premises when some witnesses came to testified at the commission willingly on the request of their lawyers at the invitation of the commission. After testifying and on their way to go out of the court premises via their counsel car, the police team headed by Insp. Muktar Abdullahi of D4 CID, Of the Adamawa State Police Command in a broad daylight and the presence of the Chief Registrar of the High Court, many Lawyers and members of the public blocked the exit gate of the court, assaulted the Lawyers, damaged their car, forced, dragged and brutalized the witnesses whom they police arrested on the ground.” Rigange Said

He further said that the irresponsible behavior of the Men of the police has completely undermined the commission’s mandate, the Chubbo people have completely lost confidence in the commission of Inquiry as being bias and serving as a trapped set for the illegal, unlawful, and brutal arrest of their people who are innocent of the cooked and concocted allegations.

He also said that the arrested suspects are Nuhu Andrawus, Mandela Joel, Zamani Yohanna brutalized for no just reason.

When contacted by the development, the command image maker, DSP Yahaya Nguroje said he has not been briefed and revert.
