The Taraba Police command said its men attached to Bali Division on Sunday killed three armed robbers during an operation along Maihula – Kurmi- Goro road, in Bali local government area of the state.
Mr David Akinremi, the Commissioner of Police in the state disclosed this in a statement issued in Jalingo on Monday.
Akinremi explained that men of the Bali Division received information at about 1630hrs that seven armed robbers had blocked the Maihula – Kurmi- Goro road in Bali local government and they quickly moved to the scene.
According to the statement, the police on reaching the scene, engaged the hoodlums in a shoot out and in the process three of the robbers sustained bullet wounds and died on the way to the hospital.
Akinremi who said four others escaped into the bush with bullet wounds appealed to the public to give timely information to the police when they sight anyone fleeing with bullet wounds to help in arresting the suspects.
“The police, who overpower the robbers with superior gun fire recovered one Revolver Pistol with two rounds of 9MM live ammunition, a Machete, two knives and two Boxer Motorcycles,” he said.
