Armed soldiers and police operatives have been deployed to the area, restricting access to the late president’s home as the nation prepares for the return of his body for burial in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.

According to reports, military gun trucks and personnel were stationed at the entrance of the residence, preventing journalists, sympathizers, and mourners from accessing the premises.

A correspondent from TGEWS observed that security operatives had blocked the main entrance, maintaining a calm but tightly controlled environment. An army officer at the scene was quoted as saying, “As you can see, the whole place is calm. We will not allow you to go further. Please kindly take your vehicle out,” when approached by reporters.

The heightened security measures come as mourners, including friends, political associates, and well-wishers, began gathering at the residence shortly after the announcement of Buhari’s death. The former president, who served as Nigeria’s military head of state from 1983 to 1985 and as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, passed away at the age of 82 after a protracted illness.
