Two kidnapped victims, Mohammed Jungudo and Maimuna Mohammadu, all of Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi state have regained their freedom following a rescue operation carried out by men of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Bauchi state command.
As contained in a crime bulletin signed and made available to newsmen by the Spokesman of the Command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil on Wednesday, four suspects were arrested in connection to the crime.
According to the crime bulletin, the two kidnapped victims were rescued by the police following an intelligent report on the 04th of April, 2023 at about 0915hrs.
SP Wakil who stated that, information at the Command’s disposal had indicated that a group of persons numbering about seven, suspected to be kidnappers were sighted between Dass and Tafawa Balewa at Dutsen Maigoshi.
He explained that on receiving the information, a team of a joint task force led by DPO swiftly swung into action at the scene.
SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil further said, on sighting the Police, the suspected Kidnappers engaged them in gun dual, after which, the police smoked the area and successfully rescued the two victims unhurt.
“During interrogation, the rescued victims recognized and identified four of the kidnappers to include, Korau Buba ‘m’ aged 56yrs of Burgel village Tafawa-Balewa LGA, Sulaiman Adamu ‘m’ aged 33yrs of Yangan village in Tafawa Balewa LGA and Haladu Abdullahi ‘m’ aged 35yrs of Tudunwuss Dass LGA.
Others, the Crime bulletin said are, Ibrahim Adamu ‘m’ aged 20yrs of Bunjang village Dass LGA.
SP Wakil who said that the suspects have confessed to committing the crime, added that an investigation is in progress, after which they would be charge to court for prosecution.
