Police Rescue 5-Year-Old, Arrest Child Trafficker in Anambra State

A 32-year-old child trafficker, Joshua Simeon, has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command while attempting to flee with a 5-year-old girl, Nkemdilim Jacob. The suspect, from Ohaozara in Ebonyi State, was apprehended at Nkpor Central Park, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, after police operatives received credible information about the incident.

According to the state police command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect had already boarded a commercial vehicle and was en route to an unknown destination when he was arrested. The 5-year-old girl, who was allegedly taken away from her parents in Umuota Village, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, has been recovered and efforts are ongoing to contact her parents or relatives for a possible reunion.

The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to ascertain his motives and determine whether this incident is part of a larger child trafficking network. This arrest is a significant step in the fight against child trafficking in Nigeria, and the police are commended for their swift action in rescuing the child and apprehending the suspect.
