Popular Nigerian singer, Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly called Sound Sultan, has died at the age of 44.
Sound Sultan’s sudden demise was announced in a statement signed by Dr. Kayode Fasasi on behalf of the Fasasi family.
According to the statement, the amazing singer and rapper died on Sunday, July 11, 2021, after battling with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which is a group of related cancers that affect the lymphatic system.
The statement read, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our multi-talented veteran singer, rapper, songwriter Olanrewaju Fasasi aka Sound Sultan.
“He passed away at the age of 44 following a hard-fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma.
“He is survived by his wife, three children and his siblings.
“We, his family, will appreciate the utmost privacy as we come to grips with this tragic loss.”
Recall that it was reported that the father of three was diagnosed with throat cancer in the United States, sometimes around May.
He was said to have commenced chemotherapy in one of the hospitals in the country.
The rapper reacted to this via his Instagram page saying, “I must not ignore the massive show of love. Thank you all. I will tell you my story myself. It will be true THEN not false.”
His career in show business started in the 1990s.
He died two months after it was reported he had cancer.
The multi-talented rapper is survived by his beautiful wife, three children and siblings.
