In an interview, Ahmad explained that the money was lost under the care of his younger half-brother, Bashir Ahmad, who managed the business on his behalf, assisted by another staff member.

According to Mansur, the incident began when a customer demanded N150,000 in cash from Bashir on Wednesday. Later that day, Bashir collected N100,000 from an onion trader in the market. However, when Mansur tried to contact Bashir that evening, his calls were rejected until around 10 pm, when Bashir revealed his location.

The total amount claimed by customers amounted to N5 million

Upon investigation, it was discovered that multiple customers had complained about transactions made with Bashir that were never received, with Bashir blaming network problems. The total amount claimed by customers amounted to N5 million.

Mansur took Bashir to the palace of the Sarkin Bwari, Alhaji Auwal Ijakoro, where he was interrogated, but Bashir failed to disclose how the money went missing. Their parents later summoned Bashir to their hometown, where he arrived on Friday.

The FCT Police Command’s spokeswoman, SP Josephine Adeh, was unavailable for comment on the incident.
