The Presidency has issued a strong statement disavowing any association with a growing number of billboards promoting a 2027 campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The unauthorized billboards, prominently displayed in major cities like Abuja and Kano, have sparked concern regarding adherence to electoral laws.
The statement emphasizes that while President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima are grateful for the unwavering support from their constituents, they do not endorse any premature campaigning that contravenes the nation’s electoral regulations.

The current electoral law prohibits any campaigning activities ahead of the official timetable set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 elections.
“Premature campaigning can undermine the integrity of the electoral process and create unfair advantages,” the statement read. As law-abiding leaders, Tinubu and Shettima remain committed to upholding the rules governing political conduct.
The Presidency clarified that neither President Tinubu nor Vice President Shettima has authorized any individual or group to promote a campaign for the upcoming elections through any media channel, including billboards, print, digital, radio, or television.
In a call to action, the statement urged those funding and erecting these campaign materials to cease immediately, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to the ongoing tasks of nation-building—focusing on economic revitalization, human capital development, infrastructural renewal, social investment, and national security.
The Presidency assures the public that once INEC officially signals the commencement of the 2027 electoral process, President Tinubu will transparently communicate his intentions to the nation.
This statement serves as a reminder of the importance of compliance with electoral laws and the integrity of democratic processes in Nigeria.
