‘Problem Creator’ Bows Out: Elder Wosi Says Lawal’s Exit Is a ‘Blessing’ to ADC, Goodbye to Division Tactics

Elder Mark Wosi has described the exit of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal, from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a significant blessing for the party, particularly for its members in the North-East zone and Adamawa State.

In a strongly worded statement, Elder Wosi welcomed Lawal’s departure, saying it would allow the ADC to refocus on its core objectives without internal distractions.

“ The exit of former SGF Babachir Lawal from ADC is another blessing to the party, especially for members in the North-East and Adamawa State,” Wosi said.

He criticised Lawal’s recent public attacks on former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, describing them as unbecoming of a former SGF and detrimental to party unity.

“Babachir Lawal’s repeated public insults against H.E. Alh. Atiku Abubakar, made without presenting facts through the proper party and legal channels, amount to a blatant attempt to tarnish the image of a respected leader,” the elder stated. “Such tactics are dead on arrival because they do not advance democracy — they only create division.”

Wosi noted that Lawal’s conduct had consistently undermined efforts to build a united front within the ADC. Instead of collaborating with Atiku Abubakar and other leaders to strengthen the party, Lawal allegedly opted for public confrontation.

He reminded Lawal that politics in Nigeria transcends ethnic and religious lines. “In politics there is no ballot for Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, Christians or Muslims. There is only the ballot for Nigerians or Nigeria,” Wosi emphasised.

The elder further referenced the opportunity given to Lawal by late former President Muhammadu Buhari to serve as SGF, urging him to uphold the legacy of national interest over personal grievances.

While acknowledging that some party members had been restrained from responding to the alleged insults, Wosi said the ADC remains committed to discipline and due process. He declared that the party would no longer tolerate such distractions.

“ We say goodbye to one of the major sources of internal problems for ADC in the North-East and Adamawa State,” he added. “ADC will now focus fully on organizing, mobilizing, and offering Nigerians a credible alternative.”

In a parting shot, Elder Wosi advised Lawal: “Go and eat what you have collected from your supposed candidate for your selfish reasons and bye bye BD Lawan problem creator.”

The development comes amid ongoing realignments within opposition parties as political actors position themselves ahead of future elections. Party sources indicate that Lawal’s exit is expected to pave the way for greater cohesion within the ADC in the North-East region.
