The Academic landscape and Performance of Adamawa State College of Education Hong in Adamawa state have significantly improved following a monumental building of structures and man -power that are being put in place for conducive learning environment.
The college which has been operating since 1970 as a higher institution in Adamawa state has according to investigation produced capable hands both in teaching and other related fields that have contributed immensely in nation building.
Most interestingly, the leadership style being propelled by the present management is inline with the development Agenda of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri where ailing sectors like education are being rescusitated vigorously both at Primary, Secondary and Higher institutions.
Some restructurings were effected to merged ministries and agencies and capable hands were appointed for revolutionary output.
The college was not left out with the appointment of Professor Benson Yusuf Baha who took over from his predecessor two years back.
Amongst the specialized Fields the college is offering full-time courses include; Vocational and Technical Education, Social Sciences, Languages,Arts, Education, Instruction and other relevant disciplines.
Much was recorded by its previous leaders but better have been consolidated on the previous gains both in disciplines and infrastructural development particularly under the present Provost of the college, Professor Benson Yusuf Baha.
These magic and transformation is prowering since 2nd June 2021 when Professor Baha assumed office as the substantive Provost of the college.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists( NUJ) Adamawa state Council during it’s assessment visit to the institution received a shocking revealation of how Professor Baha attracted Tetfund patronage and lecturers Progressing from glory to glory while students are breaking unprecedented records in academics.
The first strategic method according to Professor Benson Baha is “the management under my leadership quickly blocked financial leakages and massive encroachment into the large institution by employing due process.
We have reclaimed all the encroached lands surrounding the college.
The enrollment before has dropped from 12,000 to 700( NCE 1)and this singular challenge has affected the Internally Generated Revenue.
Road Network, Water system and fencing because of the large and porous nature of the college,but we were able to tamed and reduced all these challenges to the bearest minimum”.
He told the visiting Journalists that”right from the entrance gate, you have started seeing the magic, smooth road tared to administrative block.Our results now are being processed online and from 8-9 sets of students have collected their results.Students from the immediate communities are accessible to JAMB.The COE HONG has zero tolerance for examination malpractices.All the NCE and Degree Programmes have been accredited and we have partner about ten Programmes will Taraba State University”.We have visiting Professors and other lecturers from Modibbo Adama University and University of Maiduguri.
The management of the college have sent about 100 staff on academic training via Tetfund.
Few among the structures the Provost conducted the visiting Journalists round are multi-million sports complex under construction, modern lecture theatres and offices for school of Education as well as doube-duplex Staff quarters.
Plans are underway to also build a digital lecture theatre.
Solar lights have been installed across the campus to enhanced the security architecture of the college.
The State Chairman of NUJ Comrade ISHAKA DONALD DEDAN who led the Delegation had earlier seek for a academic opportunities for Practicing Journalists in building their career.
He sited COE Hong as one of the suitable grounds considering the significant improvement in the college.
