Prominent Adamawa and Borno Indigene, Mustafa Tahir, Commiserates with Maiduguri Flood Victims

Mustafa Tahir, a renowned lawyer and son-in-law to the Lamido of Adamawa, has expressed his deep condolences to the victims of the devastating flood that has ravaged Maiduguri, Borno State. Tahir, who holds various traditional titles including Zanna Malilima of Bama, Dan Jarma Adamawa, Sarkin Sapta Gombe, Jarma Taraba, and Tambari Mamnila, is also a customs officer and indigene of Borno

In a statement released on Wednesday, Tahir described the situation as “heart-wrenching” and “devastating,” and urged all well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the victims.

He pleaded with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and private individuals to extend a helping hand to the affected communities, as the floods from the Alau Dam continue to wreak havoc on Maiduguri.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the flood disaster in Maiduguri, and I want to commiserate with the people of Borno State,” Tahir said. “I plead with NGOs and private individuals to reach out to the victims in any way possible, to alleviate their suffering during this time of trial.”

Tahir also praised the efforts of emergency responders and humanitarian agencies already on the ground, and called on the government to provide more support to the affected communities. “The people of Maiduguri need our help now more than ever, and I urge everyone to donate generously to support the relief efforts,” he added.

As the floodwaters continue to rise, thousands of people have been displaced, and many more are in need of urgent assistance. Tahir’s appeal serves as a reminder of the importance of collective action in times of crisis.
