Bala Kalu, Adamawa State Commissioner for Environment, has raised the alarm over a fraudulent Facebook account using his name and profile picture to spread hate speech and inflammatory remarks targeting the Chamba community.
In a strongly worded statement, Kalu denounced the account as a malicious attempt to tarnish his reputation and sow discord among communities in the state.
“I have absolutely no connection to that account or the shameful content being circulated,” Kalu declared, emphasizing that the impersonation is a calculated effort to mislead the public for political motives.

A Senior Lecturer in Computer Science with over two decades of Facebook usage, Kalu underscored his commitment to respectful and unifying communication, both online and offline.
Addressing the Chamba community directly, Kalu reaffirmed his solidarity and respect, stating, “I have never and will never condone or participate in any form of hate speech or ethnic provocation.” He described the perpetrators as cowards whose actions do not reflect his values or leadership.
Kalu has reported the fake account to Facebook and notified security agencies, who are now investigating to identify and prosecute those responsible. He called the incident an attack not only on his person but on truth, unity, and the peace-building efforts in Adamawa State.

Urging citizens to stay vigilant and report impersonators, Kalu appealed for continued harmony among Adamawa’s diverse communities.

The Commissioner’s swift response has been met with support from community leaders, who have called for thorough investigations to curb digital impersonation and protect public figures from such defamation campaigns.
