PVC registration: Adamawa police command vows to deal with saboteurs

Adamawa State police command has today reiterated its commitment to deal with some elements trying to sabotage the ongoing Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A statement by the image maker of the command, SP Sulaiman Nguroje Saturday said the move was sequel o
to intelligent reports indicating that some groups of people are going around PVC registration centers disrupting the process and making it difficult for those yet to be registered to get registered.

He noted that the commissioner of police in the state Sikiru Akande has put modalities in place to ensure those found wanton are apprehended and brought to justice.

“The police as the lead agency, hereby statutorily mandated all Divisional police officers, operational Commanders, and their supervisory Area Commanders to ensure that prevention and Detection of crime remain their top priority. He further assured that the command’s operational asset will be deployed to detect and arrest individuals or groups found committing any crime to face the full wrath of the law.

“The CP lauded the Government and good people of the state for their unwavering commitment to providing the security agencies a conducive operational environment that guaranteed safety of lives and property of residents in the State.

“Against this backdrop, the CP charged officers and men of the command to dwell more on information gathering and checkmate the activities of Tricycles/ Motorcycle late night operators.

“The command equally calls for the cooperation of the public to always volunteer useful information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of criminals in the state. The command would continue to collaborate with other sister agencies in the state to effectively secure the State,” the statement said.

The police warning came a few days after the Muslim Council of Adamawa State said Muslims in Christian-dominated areas are being prevented from collecting PVCs.

Chairman of the council, Gambo Jika called on the authorities to wade in to prevent the illegality as Muslims will no more fold their arms against the open provocation.
