The Governor of Adamawa State, Sen Mohammed Umar Jibrilla, felicitates with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah as they join other Muslims across the world to observe the month of Ramadan, the holiest in the Islamic lunar calender.
A statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Macauley Hunohashi, says Sen Jibrilla reminded Muslims in Adamawa State and the country at large to, “take advantage of the holy month to step up effort in following the teachings of Islam which teaches love, tolerance, discipline, abstenance from sexual relations and devotion to prayer”.
According to him, “I enjoin Muslims to work harder in the promotion of peace in Adamawa state and the entire country so that we can sustain the development derive we have started”.
He noted that Muslims and non-muslims of Adamawa State have been very supportive, “that was why we’ve been able to provide dividends of good governance in the state, especially in Numan, Mubi, Ganye, Shelleng, Song, Mubi, Parya, Hong and Yola the state capital”.
Sen Jibrilla called for ceaseless prayer for president Muhammadu Buhari whom he described as, “upright, disciplined, incorruptible, patriotic and an uncommon nationalist, so that he can cotinue with the fight against graft, annihilate Boko Haram and restore the lost glory of the north east”.
Muslims regard Ramadan as the holiest month of the year because it was during this year that the Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) on the night of Laylat Al Qadr.
Ramadan month is observed by Muslim around the world as a holy month of fasting, piety and intense prayer as well as a period for charitable deeds and giving to the less privileged in the society.
