RAMP2: Adamawa state benefiting from Rural roads construction by World Bank- Commissioner

Adamawa state is among the one tier been selected to participate in the second Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP2) in the federation by the world Bank and French Development Agency.

The commissioner of Rural infrastructure and community Development,Alhaji Hassan Umar Pakka stated this when declaring open a one day workshop organised by RAMP2 held at Nyako centre Thursday.

Pakka said the objective is to improve and increase transport conditions and bring sustainable access to rural communities through rehabilitation.

He explained that the workshop is aimed at brainstorming and share knowledge to develop a national guidelines to design standard specifications for low volume road manual.

The commissioner stressed that federal Government focuses on managing federal roads leaving States and local Governments,noting that local Governments are not fully active in the development and maintenance of rural road network.Alhnaji umar pakka added that a lead agency to monitor the condition of states and local Government effectively is missing in Nigeria which resulted in the negligent in road maintenance and structures.

According to him the Project was contracted to consultant that was commissioned to undertake the assignment on low volume Road with stakeholders in the state in road sector.

He then call on the participants to avail themselves to the opportunity and learn and contribute.

In his opening remarks the permanent secretary in the ministry of rural Infrastructure and community development,Engr John Garba said the aimed of the worshop is to enlightened people of adamawa and all stakeholders on low volume road and specifications Manuel and thanked RAMP for organizing the event.

Also in his vote of thanks the project manager of Ramp two Mr Vwapamkai Bafyau express gratitude to Governor Muhammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow for his support to the project and releasing the counterparts fund assured of judicious and implementation.The worshop also featured technical session where the activities of the RAMP2 has been higlited.
