The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has retracted his previous statement that Christians who don’t pay tithe might not make it to heaven.
Adeboye apologized for the comment, describing it as a “mistake” during a youth congregation address at the ongoing RCCG Youth Convention in Ogun State.
He emphasized that the Bible emphasizes peaceful and holy living as prerequisites for entering heaven, citing Hebrews 12:14.

“I apologiz for saying ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you might not make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible,” Adeboye said.
Instead, he encouraged the congregation to strive for a higher standard of giving, sharing a personal story of a man who pledged 90% of his income to God and achieved immense success.
Adeboye noted that limiting oneself to 10% tithe is insufficient, stating, “It’s wrong to say you should pay only 10%.” He shared his own experience of increasing his tithe beyond the traditional 10%.
