Speaker Kabiru Mijinyawa of the Adamawa state House of Assembly has on Thursday afternoon condemned in Strong terms a purported story published on Daily independent of 3rd April, 2019.
In an effort to reply the story which was attributed to the House under his leadership to have served the Executive Governor of the state, Sen Muhammadu Umar Jibrilla Bindo and the speaker an impeachment notice barely two months Left for new leadership to emerge is total unfounded and baseless.
He refuted that the House is governed by simple majority to decide every action directly or indirectly taken in favor of popular majority.
While condemning the reportorial house style of Daily independent news paper of not weighing the negative magnitude of the story written in an unfounded manner, thereby lacking the professional touch of a true media outfit,he Said the House is never in any way pondered on impeaching him neither the governor.
”These are far fetch truth, the story does not have substance,never in any way we have sat down and resolved to serve Gov Bindo an impeachment notice.
“Look my brother, that’s not how the house operate, whoever that is thinking such among us is just dreaming, and I’m sure they don’t have the majority to do that. The bottom line is that Adamawa state house of assembly have never in any way and for whatever reason made any effort or move to remove me or serve the Governor an impeachment notice.”
The story in daily independent described the house in a fighting mode on Tuesday where the mace was hurriedly smuggled out of the assembly complex to avert impeachment procedure against the outgoing Governor , Senator Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow. And the Speaker, Kabiru Mijinyawa.
The story also has it that assembly had reconvened on Tuesday after about a month recess during the general elections, to consider the executive letter of the Governor Bindow that he was proceeding on two weeks leave.
Rt Hon Kabiru Mijinyawa revealed that the house on Tuesday reconvened and deliberated on induction training of new elected lawmakers that are billed to go in few weeks time and the House was adjourned the seating till May.
In the report of Daily independent, Member Representing Hong constituency, Hon Mamman Barguma was quoted to have raised eyes brows to the speaker thus:
“However, during the proceedings it turned sour when several members questioned the proprietary of Bindow going on leave at the crucial period when he ought to stay in office to explain so many crucial issues and decisions that he took in the last 4 years.
“Tempers rose high as they also accused him of trying to abscond from office because of some malfeasance.
“The situation however degenerated when the member representing Hong, Hon, Hassan Barguma, accused the Speaker, Kabiru Mijinyawa, of over protecting the Governor Bindow and requested him to step aside, so that an appropriate action can be taken on the Governor.”
Hon Barguma in his response Wondered why his name was used and quoted to be part of the meeting in absentia.
According to him,he is taken the matter to a competent court of law to seek for redress.
“I was not at the Tuesday plenary,i have being in Abuja for a while now but only for me to read in the pages of newspaper that we are staging an impeachment for the outgoing Governor and the speaker.
“I’m not aware of all this,without me being interviewed a reporter will just use my name to blackmail me because he has planned a mischievous story against the Governor and the speaker using me as an instrument to achieve their aims. I can’t take that, I must surely go to court to vindicate myself.” Barguma said
Member representing Vere constituency,Hon Abdullahi Umar Yapak who was also at the Tuesday plenary disputed the claims by Daily independent that the lawmakers were in Sharp disagreement on the agenda of impeachment notice.
He reiterated that the house have only resolved on the agenda for the induction course organised for the newly elected members and Barguma was not in any way in attendance.
