…NEC YOWICAN Pass a vote of confidence on the CAN national officials
A first of its kind meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of Youth Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja on Friday, 23rd July 2021to had in attendance,National Executive Members, Zonal Leaders,State Leaders and Representatives from the Blocs/denominations under CAN.
The Adamawa State Chairman of the Youth Christian body, Rev Gabriel Ldutsi Shall was privilege to have attended the meeting and made available to TGNEWS a communique stating the out come of the meeting.
In the communique it read that; the current leadership of YOWICAN pledges her unalloyed loyalty and solidarity to the worthy leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) under the able watch of His Eminence, Rev. Dr. Samson Supo Ayokunle.
“That YOWICAN shall continue to collaborate and work in concert with brothers from the Muslim faith to pursue the desired peace, unity and progress of the nation; and more particularly under the auspices of the Nigeria Inter-religious Council (NIREC).
“That YOWICAN remains the only umbrella organization of Christian youths and church based youth organizations in Nigeria, as such YOWICAN should be accorded the requisite recognition and support by the Federal Ministry of Youths & Sports and all other MDA’s, NGO’s and corporate organizations.”
The communique however said the National umbrella of Christian Youth in Nigeria decries the increasing rate of insecurity in Nigeria, yet commends the efforts of government and security agencies in combating the nefarious activities of bandits, killer herdsmen, insurgents and many others
The communique which on it is the signature of the National Chairman and Secretary, Mr Belusochukwu Enwere, Bako Adashu Elijah said despite the efforts so far made in combating crime, YOWICAN observes the urgent need to curb the rising wave of attacks, killings, destruction of lives, properties, farmlands and livelihood of innocent citizens within the Northern states, specifically within Christian communities in Southern Kaduna.
“YOWICAN in the performance of Christian tenets and faith believes strongly in peaceful coexistence, but this piety should not be construed as cowardice, therefore kidnappers, bandits, killer herdsmen, terrorists and unknown gun men should not push Christian youths to the extreme, such as to make them consider deploying self defense strategies as the last option.
“YOWICAN asserts that rotation of the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will promote unity and concord, asuch the emergence of a Christian and youthful President come 2023 will be a true expression of equity, fairness and justice for Nigeria and Nigerians.
“Finally, YOWICAN demands the immediate release of all abductees and particularly the students of the Bethel Baptist High School Kaduna State, who have been in captivity. We urge the Federal and Kaduna State Government to expedite action towards their release.” The communique
TGNEWS further interviewed Gabriel who was in attendance as Adamawa substantial Chairman of the Christian Youth organization said the meeting was awesome and it is the first NEC since their national election.
He said he is likewise going to implement some of the issues raised during the meeting to the benefit of all Adamawa Youth.
Gabriel said his loyalty to Bishop Dami Steven Mamza, the state Chairman of Adamawa CAN is unshakable as over the years he has proved to be a leader and a Father.
“I’m equally going to work with my EXCOS to initiate programs and activities that will help our Youth in the state.” Shall said
