In a remarkable turn of events, Nigeria has witnessed a significant stabilization and even a reduction in the cost of foodstuffs and animal feed over the past five months. This development, hailed as a masterstroke in governance, is credited to the intensified national security efforts spearheaded by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA).

Hon. Hussaini Ahmadu Har, Director of Media and Publicity for the APC Unity Forum, highlighted these achievements in a recent statement, attributing the success to Ribadu’s strategic leadership.
According to Hon. Har, the decline in food prices and the newfound stability in Nigeria’s agricultural sector were no mere coincidence. “This was not achieved by accident but by intensifying efforts on national security, which enhances food security, as coordinated by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu,” he stated. The NSA’s decisive actions in tackling insecurity across the country have restored confidence among farmers, enabling them to return to their fields without fear of banditry or violence.
With the emergence of Ribadu as NSA, bandits were wiped out, farmers returned to their farms, roads are now accessible, farm produce increased, and food prices crashed down
A standout example cited by Hon. Har is the reclamation of the infamous Birnin Gwari forest in northwestern Nigeria. For over a decade, this area had served as a stronghold for bandits, rendering it inaccessible to farmers and travelers alike. “With the emergence of Ribadu as NSA, bandits were wiped out, farmers returned to their farms, roads are now accessible, farm produce increased, and food prices crashed down,” Har explained. The ripple effect of this security operation has been monumental, boosting agricultural output and driving down the cost of staple goods in markets nationwide.
Beyond the agricultural sector, Ribadu’s influence has extended to Nigeria’s oil industry, particularly in the southern regions. Hon. Har noted that oil production, once plagued by bunkering and spillage, has seen a dramatic turnaround. “In the past, oil bunkering and spillage constituted not only a loss of revenue but environmental pollution, which itself is a loss because it takes huge resources to clean up the mess,” he said. Under Ribadu’s coordination through the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), oil thieves and bunkerers have been put on the defensive, leading to hitch-free oil production, increased revenue, and a notable decline in petroleum product prices.
Ribadu’s tenure as NSA is being hailed as a game-changer
The stabilization of both food and fuel prices has brought a sigh of relief to millions of Nigerians, who have long grappled with the economic fallout of insecurity. Hon. Har emphasized that Ribadu’s role in this transformation cannot be overstated. “The role of the National Security Adviser in the stability of food prices cannot be overemphasized. We support him in prayers and encourage him to continue putting his best at wiping out criminals that have been pushing us to sleep with our two eyes open,” he concluded.
As Nigeria basks in this period of relative calm and economic reprieve, Ribadu’s tenure as NSA is being hailed as a game-changer. His ability to link national security with economic prosperity has not only restored hope but also set a precedent for how strategic leadership can address the country’s multifaceted challenges. For now, Nigerians are enjoying the fruits of a safer and more productive nation, thanks to what many are calling “Ribadu’s masterstroke.”
