‎Ribadu’s Team Slams Gubernatorial Rumors as ‘Fake News’, Focuses on NSA Duties

‎The team associated with Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has firmly dismissed circulating rumors about his alleged gubernatorial ambitions in Adamawa State, labeling them as “fake news” and baseless speculation.

‎In a statement released by Hon. Hussaini Ahmadu Har, Director of Media & Publicity for the Adamawa APC Unity Forum, the group emphasized that the rumors are nothing more than cheap blackmail orchestrated by merchants of misinformation.

‎The statement reads in part: “On the rumoured Gubernatorial Ambitions of our leader Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the general public should treat it as a rumour and cheap blackmail from merchant of fake news.”

‎It further clarified that Mallam Ribadu, described as a “workaholic NSA and the Sardauna Adamawa,” has shown no interest whatsoever in contesting for the governorship of Adamawa State.

‎The forum urged the public to refrain from spreading such false information, noting that doing so could distract him from his primary responsibilities.

‎”Therefore, people should avoid circulating fake information because Mallam is working towards his primary assignment and he should not be distracted from his services to our great nation,” the statement added.

‎Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and a prominent figure from Adamawa State, currently serves as the National Security Adviser under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

‎He has been widely praised for his efforts in addressing national security challenges, including recent commendations from the President during a visit to Adamawa State.

‎The Adamawa APC Unity Forum, a group supportive of Ribadu and aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, has consistently hailed his contributions to both national security and party strengthening in Adamawa.

This latest rebuttal appears aimed at quashing distractions amid ongoing political discussions in the state, especially as attention turns toward future elections.

‎Political observers note that rumors of high-profile figures like Ribadu entering gubernatorial races often surface in the lead-up to election cycles, but no official declaration or indication of interest has come from Ribadu himself or his close associates.

‎The forum called on members of the public, media outlets, and social media users to disregard the rumors and focus on factual reporting to avoid unnecessary speculation that could undermine national service and unity.

‎This development highlights the persistent challenge of misinformation in Nigeria’s political landscape, with Ribadu himself having previously spoken out against the dangers of fake news and its impact on society and governance.
