A petition in the form of a complaint was written by Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) loaners of the Agricultural cooperative society against ASP Peter Kwage to the Adamawa Police command commissioner.
The complaints numbering about forty of them through their lawyer, Barr U.J Kolenganyiga have accused ASP Peter Kwage, police serving with the Dougire Divisional office of Yola, and the RIFAN Chairman of Yola North Local Government area, Musa Bukar Lame of Bribery, conspiracy, intimidation harassment and abuse of office.
The complainrs lamented that the matter which is in court has been sub judice, the Chairman (Musa), and the police officer (Peter) conspired and are intimidating them by issuing threats, and undue constant invitations.
One of the members who granted an interview to our Yola correspondent, Mr. Asoaga Joshua accused police officer Peter of collecting money with no receipt or proper account of whether the money has been remitted to the RIFAN account or not.
The complaint letter was channeled to the AIG office, the chairman house committee on the public complaint, Adamawa State House of Assembly, the office of the commissioner of police, and the divisional police office, all to draw their attention to the fact that once a matter is before the court of law any other action is suspended until the whole matter is determined by the court.
The loaners who have paid over three hundred thousand (N300,000) parts of the money as agreed to be settled in part payments has accused Peter of using the office of RIFAN Yola Local Government to be extorting them of his interest.
While calling the attention of the commissioner of police of how Peter is abusing his office, they vowed to either individually or collectively take legal action if he did not stop harnessing, intimidating, and coercing them being the matter is before the court of Law.
Asoaga while narrating the society part of their ugly experience with ASP Peter he said;” as Law abiding citizens, we will not be part of those that will subjugate the or to act on contempt of the court that we were been mandated to be remitting the money in the court.”
He prayed that the commissioner of Police should ask Peter to hands off his hands on the matter that the court is already in charge until it is finally decided on the case.
Efforts to reach the Command’s Police Public relations officer, DSP Yahaya Suleiman Nguroje to hear the command response on the matter proved abortive as his number at a time was not going through, and to the time of press, the number rang so many times and is not being picked
Our correspondent however called on ASP Peter and responded that he has not collected any bribe from anybody he is only doing his job as the prosecuting officer and there is a court order on the matter to continue with the case in the police station.
