A Human Rights Organization, Council for Affirmative Action (COFAA) has condemned the arrest and detention of retired Air Commodore Ishaku Komo, the Gung Zaar select and paramount leader of Zaar/Sayawa ethnic group in Bauchi state.

Signed by Mbami Iliya Sabka, Human Rights Defender and the National President of the organization on Friday, the statement frowns at the action of the police against the monarch, describing it as political.

“Council For Affirmative Action Condemns the Arrest and Detention of the Gung Zaar Of Zaar Land, Ishaku Komo, Bauchi State by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF)”, the press statement read in parts.

While describing the action as undemocratic, the Rights Organization said better mechanisms should have been deployed in addressing the problem rather than arrest and detention of the traditional leader who is known for his peaceful disposition.

“We condemn this act in the strongest possible terms. This is unacceptable and must be condemned by all well-meaning individuals and groups”, COFAA said.

While calling on the Nigeria Police Force to immediately release Gung Zaar Ishaku Komo, the Rights group extended sympathy and condolences to Ishaku Komo who was expected to bury his mother the next day before his arrest and detention.
