A Rivers High Court in Isiokpo Division in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, on Wednesday, issued an interim injunction prohibiting the Rivers House of Assembly and Speaker, Martin Amaewhule from proceeding with the impeachment of Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Governor Sim Fubara had earlier on Wednesday filed the application ex parte through his attorney, Damian Okoro (SAN).

The restraining order was also served to the deputy Speaker, Dumle Maol; the Clerk of the House and the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi.

Following a lawsuit filed against the defendants, Presiding Judge Justice Ben Whyte issued an order directing the parties to maintain the status quo while the motion on notice was decided.

But the motion on notice was then postponed until November 14, 2023.
