The Centre for Disease Control (CDC) in the United States has warned that facial hair can have an interference with face masks and respirators, which are being used around the world to combat the global spread of coronavirus, a.k.a 2019-nCoV.

In an infographic by the CDC, where assorted beards were displayed, it shows the kind of beards that are compatible with masks and respirators.

Health officials have identified some types of facial hair can keep the exhalation valve from working properly, according to the CNN.

Beards styles such as side whiskers, handlebar mustaches, and several others have been considered good, but mutton chops and full beards are not recommended.

Goatees and villain mustache have been identified as safe enough, if treated with caution. Not crossing the boundary of the respirator sealing surface is the overall goal of the precautionary measure.
