Salihu Commends Tinubu, NSA for Improving Security, Economic Dev

A frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Mustapha Salihu, has commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as remarkable progress in the areas of security, peace, and economic development across the country.

Salihu, a former National Vice Chairman (North-East) of the APC, gave the commendation during separate royal homage visits to the Emir of Maiha as well as the traditional rulers of Hong and Song chiefdoms. The visits form part of his ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Adamawa State.

The APC chieftain expressed confidence in the ability of both the Federal Government and the Adamawa State Government to sustain policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of citizens through the provision of critical social services and infrastructure.

He particularly praised the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for his contributions toward improving security in the North-East region.

According to him, the relative peace currently being enjoyed in parts of Adamawa North, once heavily affected by Boko Haram insurgency, is a reflection of the commitment and strategic efforts of the security architecture under Ribadu’s leadership.

Salihu explained that the visit to the traditional rulers was aimed at seeking prayers, support, and royal blessings for his governorship ambition.

He pledged that if elected governor, he would build on the achievements of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and introduce policies that would further strengthen security and development in the state.

Describing security as a top priority, Salihu said he would deploy intelligence-driven strategies and provide necessary logistics and support to security agencies to effectively tackle insecurity across Adamawa.

He also promised to strengthen collaboration with traditional institutions, stressing that cultural values and community-based leadership remain essential tools for peacebuilding and societal development.

“History has shown the critical role traditional rulers play in maintaining peace, security, and moral upbringing in society. I am determined to restore their pride and relevance in governance,” he said.

Salihu added that government alone cannot address every societal challenge, hence the need to institutionalise greater roles for traditional institutions through supportive laws and policies.

Speaking during the visits, the campaign coordinator, Yusuf Buba, described Salihu as a credible and experienced leader with a background in law, military service, banking, and political analysis.

The traditional rulers, in their separate remarks, assured the aspirant of their prayers and support, while APC stakeholders across the local government areas visited pledged continued cooperation with his political movement.
