Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved the increase of 50 percent scholarship allowances for students with immediate effect.
Fintiri disclose this at the 14th Convocation ceremony and 20th anniversary of Adamawa State University Mubi (ADSUM).
He directed the Scholarship Board to carried out the review with immediate effect for the students to start enjoying.
Fintiri said that his administration is committed for the development of education and assured to continue investing in the sector.
He congratulated the graduands and advised them to take advantage of any opportunity that came their way for their success in the future.
Fintiri urged the lectures to engage in ground breaking research and innovations especially in the area of Agriculture for more development and increase in internally generated revenue of the university.
According to him, Agriculture employed over 70 per cent of our citizens in production, processing, storage and marketing activities.
In her address, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, ADSUM’s Vice-Chancellor said, the ceremony is also marking the 20th anniversary of the university from 2002 to 2022.
She said the institution started with three faculties and 13 departments now increase to seven faculties consisting of 42 programmes in 35 departments.
According to her, arrangements are in top gear to bring on board Medical and Health Science Faculty.
“All the programmes as at last accreditation had full accreditation status with the National University Commission, NUC except one which had interim accreditation which translated to 98 per cent accreditation status”, she said.
Hon Awwal Tukur, Chairman Governing council of the university said as part of human capital developmen, the management and council approved the employment of two persons with disabilities who were Post Graduates students .
According to him, both were doing excellently well as students and hope to encourage others living with disabilities to develop themselves educationally.
He congratulated the graduands and advised them to key in to Agriculture particularly livestock as one of the dependable areas to succeed.
“This sector is also one of the main employers of labor nationwide, and our graduands can readily go into it by starting small and grow big”, he said
