His Excellency Hon. Wafarninyi Theman, National Vice Chairman, Northeast of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), extends his warmest congratulations to Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar, Deputy National Chairman (North); Sen. Ugochukwu Uba, Deputy National Chairman (South); and Hussaini Ado Bello, National Financial Secretary, on their appointments to the National Working Committee of the SDP.

Senator Ugochukwu Uba, from Anambra State, assumes the role of Deputy National Chairman (South). A former Senator (2003–2007) who championed the Cabotage Act, Uba is a scholar with a first-class bachelor’s degree and PhD in Political Science.

His extensive career spans academia, public service under the SDP-led government of late Governor Chukwuemeka Ezeife, and contributions to democratic studies during the IBB era. Proposed for this role in 2022, Uba brings unmatched legislative and intellectual heft.

A statistician with advanced degrees in International Affairs and Political Economy, Abubakar is a seasoned SDP stalwart

Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar, from Gombe State, steps in as Deputy National Chairman (North). A statistician with advanced degrees in International Affairs and Political Economy, Abubakar is a seasoned SDP stalwart, having served as its pioneer National Secretary (2010–2015), Gombe governorship candidate in 2011, and chair of the 2011 Convention Planning Committee.

As the founding Director-General of Nigeria’s Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), his strategic insight is poised to galvanize the party’s northern operations.

A chartered accountant and retired civil servant, Bello is a finance and tax consultant with a robust SDP track record

Mr. Hussani Ado Bello, from Kano State, takes on the role of National Financial Secretary. A chartered accountant and retired civil servant, Bello is a finance and tax consultant with a robust SDP track record, including roles as Kano State SDP Chairman (2018), Organising Secretary of Kano IPAC (2019), and Chairman of the Forum of SDP State Chairmen (2020).

His financial acumen and grassroots experience will strengthen the party’s fiscal strategy. Effective immediately, these appointments were ratified by the NWC, with all but one member in attendance.
