Amid reports of the planned defection by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, security was beefed up with heavy deployment of operatives at the Kano State Government House on Monday.
Presence of combined security personnel drawn from the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services was observed at the main entrance of the Government House.

No fewer than seven Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) belonging to the police and the DSS were stationed at strategic points, including the main gate, and the roundabout leading to the Government House.
Security checks were also intensified, with access to the Government House subjected to strict identification procedures by security operatives.
Although the planned defection has not been officially confirmed, Governor Yusuf is widely believed to be considering a move to the All Progressives Congress.
