Local vigilantes have on Saturday morning killed seven suspected Boko Haram fighters and seized a machine gun in Sabon gari village in Madagali.
A member of vigilantes, Abdu Mai said the assailants who thronged the village in large number met resistance from a group of hunters and vigilantes who forced them to flee after exchange of fire.
He said seven of the attackers died in the encounter while à machine gun was seized from them.
The Council Chairman of Madagali, Yusuf Muhammad confirmed the attack in which he said a member of Boko Haram was killed by soldiers.
When contacted, Major Badare Akintoye, the spokes man of the 28 Task Force Battalion in Mubi said he would get back to our reporter when he got the necessary details.
Madagali area which is situated around Sambisa Forest has suffered series of attack since its liberation from Boko Haram in 2015.
