‎Sen Bindow May Dump ADC As Support Groups Meet Behind Closed Doors Amid Lingering Crisis in Adamawa

‎The lingering crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State took a fresh twist on Wednesday as key support groups loyal to former Governor Senator Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow held a closed-door meeting in Yola.

‎Sources close to the gathering said the meeting convened solely by the senator’s support groups without his physical presence was aimed at strategizing on the way forward amid deepening factional divisions within the party.

‎The ADC in Adamawa has been fractured into multiple camps, reportedly including factions loyal to the state chairman’s group, Senator Aisha Binani, Senator Ishaku Abbo, and Bindow himself.

‎A reliable source who spoke on condition of anonymity revealed that Senator Bindow, a major ADC stakeholder who joined the party in 2025, is seriously considering dumping the platform if the crisis persists unresolved.

‎“The senator is consulting widely with his loyalists. The outcome of today’s meeting by his support groups will largely determine his next political move,” the source said.

‎The crisis escalated following disputes over the inauguration of a transition committee and the emergence of parallel leadership structures.

‎Senator Bindow, who previously served as Adamawa Governor and has had stints in APC and PDP, remains a formidable grassroots mobilizer in the state.

‎His potential exit could further weaken the ADC’s structure in Adamawa, especially as the party eyes stronger performance in the coming polls.

‎Party insiders say efforts are ongoing to reconcile the factions, but trust deficits continue to hinder unity. As the 2027 race heats up, Bindow’s decision is expected to reshape the political landscape in the state.

‎When contacted, one of Bindow’s close aides declined to confirm or deny the possibility of defection, saying only that “the senator remains committed to the progress of Adamawa and will act in the best interest of his supporters after due consultations.”

‎The ADC national leadership has yet to issue an official statement on the latest developments.
