Sen. Ndume Has Zero Bills, Projects After 22 Years in NASS; Bwala Claims He Lied About NEDC

In a fiery exchange on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics Today, Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, launched a scathing critique of Borno South Senator Ali Ndume, accusing him of falsely claiming credit for the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) bill and failing to deliver for his constituents over a 22-year career.

Bwala asserted that Ndume wrongly took credit for the NEDC’s establishment, stating, “The bill that brought the Northeast Development Commission was not Ndume’s work.

It was Senator Nyako from Adamawa State who championed it.” He challenged Ndume’s legislative record, claiming, “Ali Ndume has no bills passed to his name in 22 years as a lawmaker. Not one. And there’s not a single project in Southern Borno you can point to as his legacy.”

When he was contesting for Senate President, he spent two hours waiting in my chambers, seeking my support,” Bwala revealed, painting a picture of a senator who leaned on others while failing to deliver results.

Bwala’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions between the two, with Ndume recently dismissing him as a “maga dog” during a prior interview. Responding to the insult, Bwala accused Ndume of double-dealing, alleging,

Ndume, a senator since 2011 after eight years in the House of Representatives, has faced scrutiny for his vocal criticism of President Tinubu’s administration. While Ndume insists his critiques aim to improve governance, Bwala argued they mask personal frustrations and a lack of tangible achievements.

As of press time, Ndume’s office had not responded to requests for comment on Bwala’s allegations. The clash has sparked heated debate online, with many questioning Ndume’s record and others defending his outspokenness. The controversy underscores deep divisions within Borno’s political landscape as the 2027 elections loom.
