Senate President, Governor Finitiri others throng Church for Wike’s thanksgiving service

It was a gathering of ‘who-is-who’ in the political sector in Nigeria as former Rivers State Governor. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Sunday, supported by family members, associates and friends converged at St.Peter’s Anglican Church, Rumuepirikon to celebrate his eight years tenure as Governor.

The thanksgiving Church service was also graced by captains of industries, notable politicians amongst them Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, clergy, traditional rulers and well wishers.

At the event, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo Olu representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Speaker House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas who was represented by 30 honourable members, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, former and serving Governors praised and thanked God for his faithfulness in the life of Wike, most especially on his meritorious service for the State and Nation.

While testifying to God’s faithfulness, former Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike ascribed the glory to God for enabling him to serve two terms despite odds, noting that it was God that made it possible and asked the congregation to join him in praising and thanking God for His faithfulness.

He also lauded the President and Commander-in-chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for standing with him and the people of Rivers State,even as he also poured encomiums on the Governors of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. and his counterparts from Plateau State, Imo, Oyo and Enugu.

He used the opportunity to particularly commend the citizens of Rivers State and others who God used in diverse ways to make his dream a reality, adding that God would bless them for their support and forthrightness during his time.

In a sermon, the Bishop of St. Peter’s His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Wisdom Budu Ihunwo called on the congregation to return to God, stressing that power, money and position are transient, therefore people should not allow it to take them away from the presence of God.

At the end of the church service, guests were hosted at the Ada George, Residence of the governor.
