The essence of governance is to provide electorates with dividends of democracy and these can’t be possible without the person at the helm of affairs knowing the basic needs of his people. No wondered, that was what motivated the Senator representing Adamawa South in the National Assembly, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, to organized his first constituency meeting with the people of Numan Local Governments one of the nine local governments of his district.
The event which was it’s kind to happened in the history of the zone took place at General Ubani’s conference hall in Numan.

Addressing, the participants at the meeting, the Senate Vice Chairman on Capital Market, said the essence of the meeting is to brief them on his achievements and contributions as their representative in the red Chamber and as well inform them on his next plan of action most especially this year by God’s grace.
Expressing satisfaction with the turn out despite the short notices, he said he is glad to inform them that the town hall meeting will be a routine one as he intend to go round all the nine local government areas periodically to brief them on his achievements and as well hear their petitions and request.
He stated that “as lawmaker, my job is to make laws that will improve the leaving standard of my people and nation at large. And again, to approve some of the executive bills, such as appointment, annual budget and some relevant bills for the betterment of the citizenry.” “So far in my short spell at the Senate, I have sponsors and cosponsors many bills and has contributed in some developmental national issues for the benefit of the people of my zone and the nation at whole.” “Notable among these were my contributions on the motion for the drainage of river Benue from Lokoja to Yola and the need for the inclusion of my senatorial district among the beneficiaries of the humanitarian services to be render to the victims of Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen attacks in the North East,” he narrated.
He maintained that immediately after his inauguration as a Senator, he opened a befitting constituency office in Numan and annex offices in Guyuk and Ganye where petitions and request will be tender to reach him since it is not everybody that will have direct access to him .
Furthermore, he added that the second thing he did was he appointed five aides and the appointment cut across gender and local government areas of the zone, even though, he said was not permitted to picked in some LGAs because the slots were five and they have 9 LGAs in the district.
Reeling out some of his achievements, the lawmaker said he has organized a free medical outreaches in Demsa and Ganye where people from different corners of the zone and beyond have benefitted. Promising that he is hoping to continue with the program.
Again, Senator Yaroe noted that he had fought for the inclusion of the people of his district among the beneficiaries of the relief materials that were distributed to the victims of the flood disaster that have ravaged some of the LGAs in the State. He said initially, it was only the people of the central senatorial zone that were meant to be benefitted but he fought until his people were included
He said these and many more are some of his achievements and contributions so far as the Senate representing Adamawa south in the Senate. Noting that he is hoping to continue with the gesture and other more.
Senator Yaroe used the opportunity to announced again to his constituents that very soon he will launch his scholarship scheme which mostly the sons and daughters of the common men of the zone will benefit. Noting that the scholarship will be mainly for those seeking for their first degrees in various public tertiary institutions not for those in private and foreign institutions.
Furthermore, he stated that by the grace of God, he will soon bring some team of expert to come and train their youth and women on various entrepreneurship courses to enable them be self reliant.
He said this year, in order to reunite their youth, he will organize a senator’s cup where every local governments of the zone will participate.
In their various contributions at the meeting, the people of Numan commended the Senator for organizing such a wonderful meeting for them to come and share their feelings with him. They promised him their unflinching support and prayers all the time.
However, they pleaded with the Senator to strive and ensure Numan Federation is included among the beneficiaries of North East Development Commission Program, as currently they are excluded despite the mirage of destruction suffered from Fulani herdsmen.
Other requests they made were:
improvement of security in the area, provision of potable water, employment; opening of sporting activities in the zone to enable the youths showcase their talents, facilitate for the relocation of either the State Polytechnic fulling to the area or one faculty of Adamawa State University to the Area or if possible, opening of a new Federal University in the area.
Other are: facilitate for the improvement of the agricultural activities of the area as most of them are agrarians, either by bringing milling company to the area, construction of physical structures such as lecture rooms and hostels and facilitate for the completion of all Federal and State governments project going on in the zone, such as Numan- Jalingo road and Numan-Gombe road etc. Facilitate for equipment of their primary health care with modern equipment among others.
Responding, the Senator expressed delight with all the contributions and suggestions. He promised them that he will strive to work on them but pleaded for their support and prayers to enable him succeed in his plan of taking the zone to greater height.
In her vote of thanks, the Director General of Senator Binos Yaroe Campaign, Hon. Tina Thomas, thanked God and Senator for organizing such a wonderful meeting. She congratulated the people of Numan local government for being the first people to host the historic event. According to her, it was the first of its kind to happened in the zone. The DG urged the people of the area to continue to support and pray for the success of the Senator.
