Senior staff of polytechnic issued FG three weeks ultimatum over implementation of NEEDS report

The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnic (SSANIP), has issued the Federal Government three weeks ultimatum to release the outcome of the NEEDS Assessment report on polytechnics and make funds available for its implementation.

The ultimatum was contained in a communique signed by the National President of the association, Rev. Sunday Sabo, and Secretary, Chief M.P Jegede, issued at the end of its 51st National Executive Council (NEC) and General Executive Council (GEC) meetings held in Yola.

The communique lauded FG for the approval of the abolishment of HND/BSC dichotomy and implored the Head of Service of the federation to as a matter of urgency release white paper on the implementation of the same in order to make it official and implemented without further delay.

The communique also commended FG for exempting university from TSA and urged it to extend same to Polytechnics and other tertiary institutions.

It observed the expiration of tenure of Rectors of Federal Polytechnics Damaturu, Bali, Kaduna, Offa and Auchi, and called for speedy action on the appointment of substantive rectors for the affected Polytechnics.

The communique also urged FG to “as a matter of urgency, adopt a more pragmatic approach towards moving the country away from the current economic recession being experienced by the generality of Nigerians.”

It commended FGs effort in curbing corruption in the country and enjoined FG and the judiciary to address the problem of delay in the administration of justice in corruption cases and ensure judicious use of recovered loots.

On Security in the North East, it commended the effort of government and security agencies in securing the affected areas.
