The death of the Adamawa state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Chairman, Comrade Rodney Nathan was described as a great loss to the noble profession by the Secretary to the government of the Federation (SGF), Barr Boss Mustapha Gidahyel.
Mustapha mourned that the death which occurred on the 4th of January, 2023 was a rude shock bearing in mind that the services of Rodney are still needed in the growth of the teaching profession in Adamawa,and Nigeria.
Mustapha in his words of consolation to the entire NUT members and his immediate family extolled Nathan to have paid a good price for humanity and accorded into him with an emblem of a good steward whose indelible records will live in the sands of time.
He called on his family members to take solace in God that he left behind good records of leadership and that posterity will be kind to him as it is in God’s will to take him home to rest.
Mustapha while praying for God to repose his soul, he recalled how his late Father, Mr. Mustapha Gidahyel became the pioneer NUT Chairman during the defunct Gogogola state and left behind historic records many years ago, and today is being remembered, so is Nathan be remember for good.
He consoled the entire family with the words of Apostle Paul in Philippians 2:21: ” That for me to die is gain and to live is Christ,” and fought a good fight of teaching profession.
Boss in a statement said:
He has lived a good life, he fought a good fight in the interest of humanity and a crown is awaiting him to wear.
“I pray good to bless his soul, and Make him rest in the bosom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, give his family the grace that abounds in God’s love and the fortitude to bear the huge loss.”
A statement by his media assistant, Mr. Fidelis Jockthan also revealed that Nathan will be laid to rest on 10th January 2023 at his compound in Njoboliyo, Yola south Local Government Area of Adamawa.
The funeral will begin with a service of songs at Jesus Army Assembly, Damdu, Yola town near his compound on 9th January 2023 by 4:30 pm.
Funeral service will take place at Njoboliyo’s main football ground while the final internment of the great unionist is to be done at his family Compound in Njoboliyo town.
