Shelleng:Road construction reviving the economy of Adamawa

The construction of Shelleng road by the Administration of Sen Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow has remain a Watershed achievements and indelible in the hearts of the entire people of Shelleng LGA.

Tgnews went for fact finding trip to an ongoing 36 kilometre road construction of Kiri/Shelleng awarded to triacta company Ltd by Gov Jibrilla.

The road has suffer negelect since the existence of Shelleng, but the four past decades has been a prayer point by Shelleng people,the headquarters of Shelleng LGA and her environs to have a tar road connecting to other LGAs in Adamawa state.

Being an agrarian area with more than half of its population as farmers, producing sweet potatoes, Maize,Beans and millet as their major crop production, for a good road to transport their produce has been a mirage from a reality.

Governor Muhammadu has promised to construct the road during his campaign days in 2014/2015 and fulfilled the promised few months in office by awarding a constract for the road to be construction.

The work has gone far,near completion with the construction of bridges,bus culvert and pavements. A journey of about 20 kilometres,more than half of the total kilometers- from Kiri to a settlement one sighting Shelleng is Tared,making it motorable accessible than before.

At a settlement close to Shelleng are heavy duty machines of the Triacta construction company working on daily basis,grading the road and making culverts to main Shelleng town.

An indigene of Shelleng who grant an interview toTgnews,Aliyu Adamu revealed that the construction of Shelleng road has solved so many problems of the 10 political wards making up the LGA.

According to him five years ago it’s a journey of two to three hours that will make one to be at Kiri town during dry seasons. But during rainy season is more of a dead trap road,where commuters finds it hard and difficult to follow,if they decide to go through the mud trap road it require a perfect driver who is good in navigating through the tedious way that will make it up to Kiri within five hours. Most a times travellers prefer to go on bike than boarding a vehicle.

Aliyu revealed that travelers are mostly taken the option of going by canoe not minding the risks involved peddling the dangerous Kiri Dam which is a cohabitant of dangerous hippopotamus.

Now the journey is more of a stone traw from Shelleng to Kiri,where at most 40-45 minutes will take you to Shelleng from Kiri. In a state of Joy Aliyu confided on Tgnews that Bindow remains a perfect leaders and his adminstration upturned the gory stories of the people of Shelleng whereby uncountable pregnant Women and sick people are lost their life as a result of how bad the road is.

A Senior civil servant who pleaded to be anonymous said the votes of the entire people of Shelleng are saved kept and bankable for a good pay back to Governor Bindow who has proven to them that the impossible can be very possible as far as Shelleng is concern. He broke down the jinx of “no government can construct the road leading to Shelleng”.

He opened up to our correspondent that previous government have promised them heaven on earth road to the extend of assuring them the road has been awarded for construction to a company that has never been in existence.

”No matter their hatred to Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla,Sardaunan Mubi,they cannot change our minds against him. Bindow has done what no government has ever done to the people of Shelleng.

” Our economy is boosting our lively hood, our standard of living is much more beyond what’s obtainable some few years ago, in less than an hour one is in Numan, within one hour our people are in Jimeta, the state capital, this is all what we have being asking all this years. Thank God the gentle man Governor,the man with the masses agenda who keep to Campaign promises is doing it it for us.” He Said

Mrs Anna Kefas,a business woman who is into buying and selling of sweet potatoes and fish in large quantities revealedhat dealers from south South and south east are coming in much numbers to trade with them as a result of the new roads.

A religion Leader who detest being on record pray a special prayers for Gov Bindow, asking God to deal with his political enemies.

According to him anybody that is doing well for the sake of the masses is already doing God’s agenda and anyone that dares him will incurs the wrath of God.

“Your enemies will be disappointed because you are doing what God wants you to do. Those that seek your downfall, they will fall instead, those ganging up and concocting all kinds of evil against you they will be victim of their own evil plans. Your desire is to see work for Adamawa state, that should be your portion, in 2019 when you will seek for reelection, many people even your enemies will vote for you, in Shelleng we see and taste of your good governance, we therefore assures you of our blog votes and work for you to succeed.” He prayed

You can recall that the adminstration of Gov Jibrilla has so far constructed over 360 roads across the state but Shelleng road has remain strategic not only to Shelleng communities but the whole of Adamawa state.
