Mujaheed Shehu (aka Olamide) of Jimeta in Yola North Local Government Area, Adamawa state has been convicted and sentenced to 3 years in prison without option of fine for criminal conspiracy, theft and criminal force.
Olamide was convicted by Chief Magistrate Court 2 Yola, presided by Magistrate Japhet Ibrahim Basani, after he was tried and found guilty of the aforementioned offences contrary to sections 60, 276 and 240 of the state penal code law.
The Honourable Court also convicted and sentenced 3 other “Shila” Boys including Bello Adamu and Abdullahi Mohammed to 4 years and 6 months each without option of fine, while Micheal Moses was slammed 3 year jail term.
The first convict, Olamide who claimed to be a mechanic along side Uzaifa and Ishiyaka Umar now at large conspired and snatched mobile phones and other valuables from unsuspecting citizens within the state capital.
The trio were said to have attacked a man and woman with knives at Demsawo Secondary School in March this year and snatched a Tecno mobile phone from their victims.
According to the prosecution, the convict and 2 others sold the Tecno phone at the Jimeta Shopping complex at the sum N5, 000 only out of which he was given the sum of N1, 500, and the remaining N3, 500 balance was shared between Uzaifa and Ishayaka.
Earlier, upon his arraignment, the Convict admitted committing the crime after which the prosecution Counsels, M. A. Adamu and A. M. Iliyasu, called a witness and tendered evidence in support of the case.
In its ruling, Magistrate Basani, declared that the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and convicted the defendants accordingly.
