In the wake of the gruesome murder of Deborah Samuel Yakubu by an irate mob of Muslim extremists, the family of the deceased has revealed that they are yet to be paid a condolence visit by any politician or government official.
You may recall that Deborah, a 200-level female student at the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, was stoned and burnt to death by a group of Islamic fanatics who accused her of making blasphemous statements against Prophet Muhammed during a heated argument with some of her colleagues on a students WhatsApp group chat.
Despite the killing being greeted by outrage from various parts of the country, Deborah’s family says they are yet to see any politician or an official from the Aminu Tambuwal-led Sokoto government come to their house in Niger State to sympathize with them.
This was made known by a brother of the deceased, Matthew Garba, who spoke with Sahara Reporters on Friday.
“Since the incident happened, no politician has come to the house to pay a condolence visit but I don’t know if they are planning on doing that, but for now, we haven’t received any such visits.
Members of the Christian Association came around to pay us condolence visits but no single politician was here,” Matthew revealed.
