The the national secertary of Youths wing of Christian Association of Nigeria,
(YOWICAN),Hon. Abel Divine Ogwuche said the recent Easter message of Bishop Dami Steven Mamza asserting that President Muhammadu Buhari is ” sleeping on duty as commander-in-chief” are his outright views,not the opinion of the Christians of Nigeria or the leadership of CAN.
Abel opined that the president of CAN,Rev. Olasupo Ayokunle in many occasions thank President Buhari for bringing lasting peace to the entire ravaged communities in the North eastern States,who have resettled back to their deserted homes cannot say or contradict his earlier statement.
He said Mamza on his capacity as State CAN chairman is not saying the minds of Christians but his statements are binding to him as an individual or a Catholic Priest (Bishop).
“I want to categorical say that CAN appreciate president Buhari for what is doing in the North East, and may I also say that the opinion of Bishop is totally his,is stands on him alone as an individual or Catholic Bishop.” He said
Dami a Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese and the state CAN chairman of Adamawa state has during his Easter message described the leadership of president Buhari regards the North East region who have suffered all form of insurgents attacks is handling it with laxity.
Divine also told tgnews that the prosponed YOWICAN election in Adamawa state because of age limit of who becomes the state youth President will soon lay to rest.
He revealed that the constitution in operation which some years ago has been suspended is fully back to guide on how the coming election should be conducted.
“The constitution in operation now permit 40 years as the required years for any body going for the seat of a state Youths CAN, and very soon we will write them officially on how to go about the election using the constitution in operation.” Abel said
