….says people are living under an iron layer of military occupation
The murder of a young man in his late twenties named JOSHUA SOLOMON by a reckless, trigger happy, unrestrained soldier last Tuesday. The market day for MILDU TOWN IN SUKUR DISTRICT Is a watershed in the unfolding situation in our home local government – MADAGALI LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
Everyone in the deceased’s family and community expected him to return home after the day’s hustle safe and sound or at least no one ever expected his death to happen through the agency of an Institution that swore allegiance to protect his likes. From enemies in this case: Boka Haram Terrorists.

We have seen deaths in our country from end to end. Ranging from deaths resulting from the acts of BOKOHARA IN THE NORTHEAST TO Bandits and kidnappers in the NORTHWEST, Robbers, and other gunmen in the middle belt.
But the death that causes the most pain and excruciating feeling is the one that occurs from the recklessness or otherwise of the security agents. It is naturally so because it turns out regrettably that those who should prevent untimely death from enemies have themselves turned into agents of death. At such a point, one wonders if we’re not facing the devil’s alternative.
The mindless murder of JOSHUA SOLOMON, by that wicked and bloodless officer who’s still not in any way reprimanded or sanctioned by the military authorities, highlights albeit on the surface the grim condition under which our people survive.
Our people in Madagali are living under an iron layer of military occupation, no one knows what line to cross or not to cross. It is an abiding joyless treadmill of bitter reality. Every opening of a new day comes with a new proposition as brutish soldiers always make enemies of innocent law-abiding village peasants.
Between Michika and Madagali, one will have to face not less than six military checkpoints, three out of which have permanently built blockage halfway from either side of the road. Suggesting this situation has no end in sight, three of those checks demand National ID as the only means of identification, I don’t know who does that?
As soon as it is six o’clock in the evening no one lights any form of light in the whole area, whatever that one means only God knows. Yet the soldiers follow the veil of the dark to commit all sorts of debauchery with our young ladies, anyone standing in their path is severely molested, and no girl dare turn down any requests.
Such inhuman subjugation is the ever-hanging reality for these poor survivors who are daily trying hard to make sense of whatever remains of their lives that is emerging from the shadows of death. Reducing such a fragile population to a level of a conquered Nation is what every sentient soul is still grappling with.
Very few Men no matter how honorable escape indignities from these half-educated Zombies. Every motorcycle has to be registered with the military which is a good idea but some bad officers quickly turn this into a means of extortion from the villagers. The motorcycle Enterprise is what resulted in the deliberate shooting of JOSHUA SOLOMON.
No one with the faintest knowledge of the security architecture of Nigeria will lay any blame on the governor for all these criminal operations. But the responsibility of amplifying our wounded voices is the governors. Such a thing shouldn’t go unchecked anywhere in the state let alone your home Local government.
Local government chairmen are rather perfunctory in our clime so mentioning them even in passing risks distorting the destination of the complaint. So this is a form of a plea to governor AHMADU UMARU FINTIRI. To please take our feeble cry to where it will make the most case for the AMELIORATION Of this inhumane, subhuman military occupation of MADAGALI LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Thank you very much.
